Manifesto
My Manifesto
Digital media expels information and entertainment into the world through a captivating medium. The magic of a digital space allows for creativity in sound and visuals, thus drawing in viewers like no other form of media ever could. It can be used as a great tool as described in a manifesto by Vannevar Bush on the memex where he imagines an invention that could make people superhuman with its ability to provide us with nearly unlimited knowledge in an easily accessible way. Overall, digital media is a source of community. The main purpose of digital media is to bring people together whether that is online spaces or connecting through the exposure of similar concepts introduced by the media. The easily accessible nature of digital media allows more people to be introduced to current information, giving them something to connect about. Additionally, because of the large amount of content and creativity within digital spaces, people can be drawn to certain aesthetics that represent their identities. This brings them closer to a group of similar people online and in person. For example, in the 1980s and 90s the first online pages for transgender people grew in digital media. This became an outlet for many people to be true to themselves without fear since writing online has the safety net of anonymity. The power of community is provided to the world through digital media. It gives people the opportunity to learn from wide-spread information, bringing us together through knowledge. Additionally, it is a space of creativity and expression of identity due to its versatile nature of unlimited visuals and sounds. In current times and extending into the future, digital media connects us all.
